dewey1

Here is my TBR-PILE.

Progress:

15.00 -

Mood: I'm so excited to start this! I want to see if I'm able to finish the whole tbr pile I set myself.

PRE-PARTY POST:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
  – I'm reading from Finland

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
   - Probably.. well.. ALL :D

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
  – Well I know I'm gonna need the energy drinks the most buuut I'm really looking forward to opening my bag of liquorice.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
  – I obviously love books and I have been debating on starting a booktube channel. I have 2 bunnies and a dog :)

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
  – I have participated so many times I think I have perfected my routine so I don't think I'll do anything differently :)

16.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl)
Books finished: 1 (Tank Girl)
Mood: Excellent! I managed to finish one book during the first hour and I didn't think that was possible. Definitely in the mood for more reading!

COVER ESCAPE CHALLENGE:

17.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl)
Books finished: 2 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm)
Mood: I had some technical issues so I had to fix those. I also took my dog out for a walk but that time wasn't "waisted" because I listened an audiobook. I finished The Silkworm by J. K. Rowling and started Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King.

18.00 -

Pages read:80 (Tank Girl) 24 (Get Some Headspace)
Books finished: 2 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm)
Mood: Happy :)

BTW I have participated to all the challenges hosted so far. You can find my entries on Instagram.

19.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 11 (The Night Circus)
Books finished:  2 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm)
Mood: I'm kinda restless. I don't know which book I want to pick up next nor do I know which snack to eat :D Also weirdly I feel a bit tired even though I haven't even been awake that long. Maybe I'll take a small break from reading soon.

THE UGLY COVER PITCH -CHALLENGE

Furies-of-Calderon I think Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera #1) is one of the best fantasy series there is. However the cover really doesn't make you want to pick the book up. It's one of the most awfull covers of ALL TIME.

But seriously everyone who loves fantasy should pick this book up. The series is quite long (6 books) but oh boy it's complex. Also the plot is really fast paced so I didn't have any time to get bored. The story is so well built you just want to read more to discover more! I love how the books fit so seamlessly together. The "main event" (let's call it that for the lack of better word) continues throughout the series and is obviously resolved in the last book.

One of the great things about this is also that all the books are already out so no need to wait for the next one to be published!

20.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 11 (Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: Another book finished!! Whoop whoop! I'm starting to worry that my tbr stack isn't going to be nearly enough for this readathon. I'M ON A ROLL PEEPS!

TOP 10 -CHALLENGE:

Top 10 ways to make most of a 24 hour readathon
1. Make a tbr pile, doesn't matter if you don't get all of them read!
2. Snacks, don't forget awesome snacks to keep hunger away
3. Also don't forget to eat properly too!
4. Energy drinks are a must for 24 hour readathons if you're planning to stay awake the whole time
5. Break the readathon in small pieces. What I like to do is update hourly which gives structure to my crazy day of reading.
6. Diversity of books! It's easier to read several shorter books versus one gigantic 1000 page book.
7. Remember to move as well.. I have a dog so I need to take him out regularly.
8. Don't get frustrated if you don't have the time to read the amount of books/pages you wished. That happens and at least you got some reading done, right :)
9. Participate to challenges. Usually they are book themed and fun. You get to interact with other bookish people.
10. And most importantly DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!!

21.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 27 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I took my dog out for a walk again while listening Mr. Mercedes. After that I continued with The Night Circus and I'm so enjoying it! The atmosphere is so magical and mystical!

HALLOWEEN PREPARATION -CHALLENGE:

71Vmj-9DZYLThe thing is that I haven't finished this book yet. I attempted to read it once but couldn't commit myself to it then. It's so complex it's gonna take some time to read that baby. However I am planning to read it this halloween because the part I managed to read it before deciding to try again later was CREEPY. I mean if you leaf through the book you get what I mean. The fonts change and the story is super weird and scary. Everytime "house" is mentioned it's written in blue ink.. There's also red ink and crossed out sentences.

22.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 59 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I ate some food and continued with The Night Circus. I'm starting to feel an urge to go to bed so I think it's time to open the first energy drink!

ARMCHAIR TRAVELLING -CHALLENGE

I would definitely have picked The Shire for my travelling location but since it has to be a real life location I'm going to pick something different. Well, okay this might be a bit of cheating as well but I can't resist. I would love to get to see the circus in The Night Circus I'm currently reading. I want to taste those caramel apples and spiced apple cider and see all those magical tents and performances! So, that's gonna be my choice: The Circus in The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

23.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 99 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I blanked completely when thinking about what to write here. I guess I just want to go back to reading!

BOOK SCAVENGER HUNT -CHALLENGE

The book I'm using for this challenge is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

1. Something hard – the magic (hard to grasp)
2. Something fast – light
3. Something sweet – chocolate mice
4. Something high – the spectacularly crafted clock at the entrance of the circus
5. Something funny – (as in weird) the feeling of the book, sometimes threatening sometimes magical

00.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 111 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I'm feeling really calm at the moment but that's probably because I spent the last 20 minutes or so meditating :) Before that I continued with The Night Circus. Surprisingly I'm not feeling tired at all at the moment. I think I might risk relaxing on a spike mat for a moment now because my shoulders and neck are feeling rather tense. If you don't hear from me again at 01.00 I have probably fallen asleep on the mat :D9780192833662_custom-de04382e327d5d4bb529f71fdb302e6ebae0587c-s6-c30

CLASSICS AND COMICS -CHALLENGE:

I haven't read that many comics in my life so this is kinda hard. I think I'm going to pair Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde comic which I just read with Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I know they're both concidered classics but the other is at least made a comic (which I btw thoroughly enjoyed) and the feel of both of the books is similar. In both of them something horrible is created and then the creator has to deal with it.

01.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 125 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I didn't fall asleep on the spike mat nor do I feel sleepy! I managed to listen to some of Mr. Mercedes while laying on the spike mat and after that continued with The Night Circus. I can't seem to put it down!

02.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 49 (Get Some Headspace) 181 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I just can't put The Night Circus down! It's so freaking mesmerizing!!! Can I just get back to it now. Okay bye

2. How many books have you read so far?
  – I have finished 2 graphic novels and 1 audiobook.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
  – I haven't had any unplanned interruptions because I told everyone in this household I'd be reading the whole day and don't want to be disturbed. Also I have noise cancelling headphones so they're a BIG help :)

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
  – I always surprised of the time flying by. I can't believe we are half way through already.. I don't want this to end! I really doesn't feel like that many hours have passed.

Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: Still not tired at all which is surprising though I know the hardest hours are ahead.. I have been awake for about 12 hours now. I continued with The Night Circus and I really wish I can finish it during this readathon. According to Goodreads I'm 65% through with it so I think it's possible!

Okay I just spend way too much time on book recommendation challenge over at entomology of a bookworm!

Books finished: 3 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
Mood: I just spend over half an hour recommending books to people and it was surprisingly fun! Usually I just skip those kind of things but glad I didn't today! Books finished: 4 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde, Get Some Headspace)
Mood: I switched on some extra lights to make my room brighter so I don't feel tired. I think it's working. Also I seem to get a rush of energy whenever I finish a book. I just finished Get Some Headspace and I'm like "yeah baby, I'm the best, gimme another book and I'll finish that one too" :D

ACCIO CINNAMON ROLLS -CHALLENGE:

I think I had too much fun with this one.. Or I might just be tired. Okay, here goes:

Three cookies for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Cookie to rule them all,
One
Cookie to find them,
One
Cookie to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Mood: I started The Hound of the Baskervilles and right now I'm feeling a bit weird, like I can't concentrate properly. Probably need to finish my first energy drink!

MAD LIBS -CHALLENGE:

This is a paragraph from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. (page 326)

After the illusionist spaces out and claws before her adult audience's eyes, they niggle, applauding the bookish intrigue. They separate from their toads and some of them loathe with their communism, quaking over this haunted house or that as they grow out the poison that has reappeared in the side of the cursed tooth.

07.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 122 (Get Some Headspace) 221 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde) 132 (The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Books finished: 5 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde, Get Some Headspace, The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Mood: Just opened the second can of Mad Croc.. How many are you even allowed to drink in one day? Well it doesnt really matter because I only have two. I finished The Hound of the Baskervilles and the graphic novel was gorgeously illustrated.

08.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 122 (Get Some Headspace) 249 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde) 132 (The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Books finished: 5 (Tank Girl, The Silkworm, Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde, Get Some Headspace, The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Mood: I continued with The Night Circus and it feels so ominous I can't stand! I really want to know what's happening! Need to continue reading!!

I created the most horrible blackout poetry there is so I'm not going to post a picture in here. It's on my instagram.. Probably gonna delete it once this readathon is over :D I mean how are you supposed to work out a great poem after being awake for way too long ;D Wait.. I actually think it's the other way around. I haven't been awake nearly enough to be able to complete such a feat!!

09.00 -

Pages read: 80 (Tank Girl) 122 (Get Some Headspace) 249 (The Night Circus) 128 (Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde) 132 (The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Books finished: 5 (Tank Girl, The SIlkworm, Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde, Get Some Headspace, The Hound of the Baskervilles)
Mood: I notice my memory has become affected by the lack of sleep as well as my concentration. I did my daily morning meditation practise, let the dog out to pee and made some breakfast. So no reading done this hour but I think the break was good!

I'm so proud of myself. I set myself some goals and I met almost all of them. The only one I didn't meet was finishing The Night Circus even though I could have finished it. I decided to enjoy it's ending while I was more awake. I read a huge amount of books and I pretty much catched up with my goodreads reading goal (I was lacking pretty badly). I'm not even annoyed I decided to take a nap towards the end of the readathon. My goal was to enjoy everything and I did! Now I'm sad it's over.. Why do these events go by so quickly..
